Denmark Bars Work Permit Holders from Social Benefits

The Danish government has clarified that foreign nationals residing in Denmark on work permits are barred from receiving specific social benefits, a restriction that also applies to their accompanying family members. This policy is in accordance with the Active Social Policy Act and affects individuals granted residence permits under several work-based schemes, including the Positive List, the Pay Limit Scheme, the Fast-track Scheme, special individual qualifications, and permits for herdsmen or farm managers.

The restrictions mean that spouses and dependants accompanying work permit holders are equally ineligible for these social supports, regardless of their individual situations.
