Denmark Denies Public Benefits to Foreign Student Permits

The Danish government has confirmed that foreign nationals holding student residence permits or permits for obtaining Danish professional authorization are barred from receiving nine specific categories of public benefits. This restriction includes cash benefits, self-sufficiency and return benefits, sickness benefits, maternity or paternity benefits, unemployment benefits (including graduate allowances), housing benefits, child support, the State Educational Grant (SU), and the Danskbonus.

The government has made it clear that individuals in these categories are not allowed to rely on public assistance during their stay in Denmark and must be financially self-sufficient. The State Educational Grant, which provides financial support to students, and the youth transport pass known as "Ungdomskort" are also included in the list of restricted benefits.

The Danskbonus, associated with Danish language or integration milestones, completes the list of exclusions.
