ADC Youths Protest for Justice Lifu's Removal in Abuja

On Tuesday, youths from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) staged a protest in Abuja, demanding the removal of Justice Peter Lifu from the Federal High Court. The protest was sparked by a controversial ruling that ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC and four other parties.

Led by ADC National Youth Leader Balarab Rufai, the demonstrators marched to the party's national secretariat in Wuse II, chanting slogans and carrying placards with messages such as "Judiciary not for sale" and "Don't force Nigeria into chaos." Rufai called for intervention from former presidents, including Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, to prevent the judiciary from weakening opposition parties. He accused Justice Lifu of gross misconduct for proceeding with the matter despite an existing order from the Court of Appeal.

The ADC youth have also filed a petition against Justice Lifu with the National Judicial Council, which has yet to respond, prompting the protests.
