Tinubu's Adviser Critiques Peter Obi's Governance Record

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, publicly admonished Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, to cease what he termed "sanctimonious sermons" aimed at misleading Nigerians. This statement was made in response to claims from the Chukwuma Soludo-led Anambra State Government, which asserted that it continues to repay debts accrued during Obi's governorship from 2006 to 2014.

Onanuga questioned Obi's effectiveness as governor, arguing that despite Anambra State's $4.05 billion expenditure and significant borrowing, the state did not experience transformation under his leadership. He expressed skepticism about Obi's ability to manage a complex federation of 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, given his record in Anambra.

Onanuga also referenced Obi's reported four-year single-term agreement with his running mate, suggesting it contradicts the two-term limit established by the 1999 Constitution.
