Desmond Elliot Challenges Lagos APC Primary Election Results

Desmond Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has publicly rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Surulere Constituency, in which he lost to Barakat Odunuga Bakar. The primary election took place on Wednesday, where Bakar secured 11,385 votes, while Elliot received only 270 votes.

In response to the results, Elliot expressed his dissatisfaction with the conduct of the primary and announced his intention to formally challenge the process through the party's appeal mechanism. He alleged that there were incidents of violence and intimidation that affected the voting process, claiming that many supporters were injured and that he faced obstacles in accessing the voting venue.

Elliot also mentioned that he was questioned about the legitimacy of his supporters' membership cards, which he claimed were unfairly deemed fake. Despite the controversy surrounding the election, Elliot remains committed to the APC and the people of Surulere Constituency.
