DESOPADEC Launches 2026 Bursary for Delta Students

The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) officially launched its 2026 bursary scheme for students in the mandate areas on Tuesday. The Commission introduced an online portal for qualified students to submit applications at https://apply.Desopadecbursary.com.ng.

Chief Favour Izuokumor, the Executive Director of Social Services, emphasized the importance of understanding application requirements and warned against submitting multiple applications, which would lead to disqualification. Izuokumor expressed optimism that bursary payments would commence in November, contingent on the verification process in October.

He also announced plans for an annual skill empowerment initiative for youths and women in the mandate areas by year-end. Izuokumor commended Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for approving the bursary program, calling him “a blessing to the state.” Johnson Aweh, Chairman of the Confederation of Delta State Oil Producing Ethnic Nationality Students Union (CODSOPENSU), praised DESOPADEC and the governor for their commitment to student welfare and urged consideration for polytechnic and college students in future payments.
