Singer Market Traders Slash Food Prices After Fire

Following a fire outbreak that destroyed goods worth N5 billion at Singer Market in Kano, traders have decided to slash prices of essential food items during the ongoing Ramadan fair. Abdullahi Usman, a member of the Singer Market Trader Association, stated that the fair, organized in collaboration with the Kano State Government and the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), aims to ease the burden on citizens during Ramadan.

Despite the fire incident, traders remain committed to providing affordable prices, with items such as a 50kg bag of rice costing N48,000 and a bucket of Irish potatoes selling for N14,000. Usman Muhammad noted that food item availability is lower compared to last year, but prices are significantly reduced, which has pleased buyers like Aisha Bala, who found a 25% discount on fruits.

The fair will continue throughout Ramadan, offering essential household goods at lower prices.
