Emeka Ike's Voter Data Leak Sparks INEC Official Detention

Emeka Ike, a popular Nollywood actor and politician, is at the center of a voter data leak incident that has resulted in the detention of an official from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The controversy began on May 29, 2026, when a group of political actors, including Ike, protested at the INEC office in Abuja, alleging irregularities in the ongoing primary elections.

The protest escalated as the group blocked access to the INEC office, claiming that the electoral process was flawed. Investigations revealed that Ike had recently initiated a transfer of his voter registration from Imo State to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) without proper approval from INEC.

Allegations surfaced that confidential voter registration data was extracted and shared improperly. Lere Olayinka, a senior special assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, was also questioned regarding the matter.

The police are investigating the alleged criminal conspiracy and cyber intimidation linked to the leak of classified documents.
