Defence HQ mourns Major General Abubakar, vows action

Major General Rabe Abubakar, a retired officer and former Director of Defence Information, was reported killed in captivity after being abducted along with his wife while traveling in Katsina State. A video surfaced on June 6, where his wife appealed to the Katsina State government for their release from the bandits.

The Defence Headquarters, through Major General Samaila Uba, described Abubakar's death as a tragic loss and noted his significant contributions to counter-insurgency operations and military professionalism in Nigeria. The military high command has vowed to intensify ongoing operations aimed at tracking down those responsible for the abduction and to dismantle terrorist networks threatening the nation.

The Defence Headquarters has withheld public comments on the ongoing rescue efforts but assured that all resources are being deployed to ensure security and the safe return of victims.
