DHQ Launches Operation Clean Sweep III in Katsina

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) initiated a fresh military offensive in Katsina State, named "Operation Clean Sweep III," aimed at apprehending the bandits responsible for the abduction and subsequent death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar. The operation began on June 14, 2026, and is concentrated in the Matazu Local Government Area, which is linked to a criminal network involved in the kidnapping of General Abubakar's wife on May 30, 2026, along the Marabar Musawa-Kafinsoli road.

The retired general was held captive until June 13. The military has reported notable successes since the operation's commencement, including the destruction of terrorist support structures and logistics bases in the Dikkawa Hill area and surrounding communities such as Aduwa, Nasarawa, and Karaduwa.

The Joint Task Force North West, led by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, is conducting thorough patrols and intelligence-led raids to clear suspected terrorist enclaves within the operational area.
