Major General Rabe Abubakar Confirmed Dead After Abduction

Major General Rabe Abubakar, a retired officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces, was confirmed dead after being abducted alongside his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, and their driver, Abdullahi Sa Idu, on May 30 in Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State. The Katsina State government issued a statement on Saturday, expressing sadness over his death, which was attributed to complications from diabetes and hypertension.

Nasiru Muazu, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, conveyed condolences to the family of the deceased. The Defence Headquarters released a statement highlighting Major General Abubakar's significant contributions to counter-insurgency operations and the professional development of the Armed Forces.

They withheld public comments regarding the abduction to defer ongoing rescue efforts, assuring that all resources would be deployed to ensure the safe return of personnel. The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to defend the country and its citizens against terrorist activities.
