Diaspora Group Backs Tinubu's 2027 Re-Election Bid

A Nigerian diaspora support group, led by Bidemi Akintund of the Citi Boi Movement, is rallying support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign. The event, held in the United Kingdom, aimed to mobilize grassroots participation and emphasized the importance of youth engagement in shaping Nigeria's democratic future.

Akintund highlighted the need for unity among various support groups, regardless of their affiliations, to collectively address voter apathy, which was evident during the 2023 general elections. Data from the Nigerian Diaspora Commission indicated that approximately 17 million Nigerians reside abroad, and the group urged these citizens to leverage their influence to participate directly in the electoral process.

The goal is to mobilize five million diaspora Nigerians to translate into additional votes for the 2027 elections, which could significantly impact the electoral outcome. Akintund reaffirmed the movement's commitment to supporting Tinubu's re-election, focusing on policies aimed at securing Nigeria's economy and empowering youth for long-term national development.
