Dickson Welcomes APC Defectors, Signals Political Shift

On Wednesday, former Bayelsa State Governor Seriak Dickson received a group of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his residence in Abuja. The group, led by Nasir Lawal, a former special adviser on youth matters, decided to leave APC due to growing dissatisfaction with its internal structure.

Lawal articulated concerns that young party members felt increasingly alienated and marginalized within the APC, which has been criticized for prioritizing political calculations over the interests of the masses. Dickson commended the defectors for their bold decision, noting it reflects a growing political consciousness among Nigerian youth.

He assured the new entrants of seamless integration into the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and emphasized the party's commitment to inclusivity, particularly encouraging youth and women to participate actively in politics. The move underscores a shift in loyalty within Nigeria's political landscape, particularly among the youth constituency, as they call for broader participation and internal reforms in political parties.
