Seriake Dickson Leaves PDP, Launches Nigeria Democratic Congress

On Thursday, former Bayelsa State Governor and current representative of the Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Seriake Dickson, announced his departure from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to form a new political party called the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This decision was made during a press conference in Abuja, where Dickson expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of the PDP, stating that the party has been unable to produce candidates for the forthcoming general elections.

He attributed his departure to a crisis that has been affecting the PDP. Dickson pledged that the NDC would serve as a formidable opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and vowed to do everything possible to halt the administration of President Bola Tinubu, whom he accused of turning Nigeria into a "party state."
