Dickson Declares NDC as Nigeria's Largest Opposition Party

Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, CON, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed gratitude to the people of Bayelsa West, Bayelsa State, the Ijaw Nation, the Niger Delta, and Nigerians globally for their support in safeguarding Nigeria's multi-party democracy. In a statement on Thursday, Dickson noted his absence from Bayelsa for eight months and highlighted his efforts in founding the NDC with support from party candidates and political allies, including presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi and running mate Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

He declared the NDC as Nigeria's largest opposition party and thanked various groups for their trust and prayers. Dickson emphasized the importance of protecting democracy against what he termed "legal, contrived shenanigans by anti-democratic forces" and expressed confidence in the judiciary's role in upholding the rule of law.

He plans to return to Bayelsa in the coming weeks alongside the party's National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas.
