NDC to Contest 2027 Elections, Dickson Confirms

Seriake Dickson, the national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former two-term governor of Bayelsa State, announced that the NDC will appear on the ballot for the 2027 general elections. He dismissed a recent court ruling that suggested the party faced deregistration due to legal defects, asserting that the ruling lacked jurisdiction.

Dickson emphasized that the NDC remains firmly on course and has already filed an application for an injunction to restrain any adverse actions from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He criticized the court's ruling, stating it did not contain a mandatory order for INEC to deregister the party.

Dickson also mentioned that the NDC has garnered significant public interest, with thousands of Nigerians visiting their website to register as party sympathizers. He confirmed that the party's primaries would be conducted in accordance with INEC's timelines and expressed support for federal government initiatives aimed at police reform.
