Nigeria's First Military Jetty Site Inspected by DICON CEO

Osman Chennar, the Chief Executive Officer of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), led a board inspection of the proposed site for Nigeria's first military jetty located in Lagos. This project is expected to strengthen indigenous defense production and support the federal government's agenda for self-reliance in military manufacturing.

Chennar described the facility as a strategic infrastructure that will enhance Nigeria's logistics chain for defense products. The jetty, situated near Tin Island Port, will facilitate efficient importation of complete knock-down (CKD) and semi knock-down (SKD) components, which are critical raw materials needed for local assembly.

Upon completion, the project is projected to create 2,000 jobs for retired military personnel and 5,000 for skilled civilians. Major General Mainasara Abdul Masanawa (retd) noted that the jetty will serve as an export gateway for defense products to friendly African countries.

The military jetty is scheduled for official launch in June 2026, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria's drive towards a resilient and self-sustaining defense industry.
