Nigeria's First Military Jetty Site Inspected by DICON CEO

Osman Chennar, the CEO of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), led a board inspection of the proposed site for Nigeria’s first military jetty located near Tin Island Port in Lagos. This project is expected to strengthen indigenous defense production and support the federal government's agenda for self-reliance in military manufacturing.

Chennar described the facility as a strategic infrastructure that will enhance Nigeria's logistics chain for defense products. The jetty will facilitate efficient importation of critical raw materials needed for local assembly projects, thereby reducing turnaround times and lowering transport costs.

It will support domestic manufacturing of small and medium arms, ammunition, tactical drones, unmanned systems, and mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles. DICON plans to commence production of the DG103 rifle for the Nigerian and African markets.

Upon completion, the jetty is projected to create 2,000 jobs for retired military personnel and 5,000 for skilled civilians. The project is scheduled for official launch in June 2026.
