Akpabio Denies Threatening Northerners Over Tinubu's Election

Senate President Godswill Akpabio rejected claims that he threatened northerners with suffering if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not win the 2027 election, labeling the allegation as a blatant lie. Akpabio's special adviser on media and publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, issued a statement on September 9, asserting that there is no credible evidence, such as video or audio recordings, to support the claim.

He specifically identified Engr. Ibrahim Umar Ammar as the alleged source of the false information. Akpabio dismissed a photograph containing the alleged quote as inadequate, stating it was merely "an allegation wearing typography." He pointed to his collaborative efforts with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and the presence of northerners in his office as evidence of his commitment to unity.

Akpabio also highlighted various legislative initiatives aimed at benefiting all Nigerians, regardless of their region, and warned against spreading false statements that could incite ethnic divisions ahead of elections.
