First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Receives Imo State Title

On September 9, 2023, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, was conferred the traditional title of Oso Di Eme I of Imo State by traditional authorities during her visit to the state. This title, which translates to "She who supports her husband," acknowledges her role as a partner to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The announcement was made by her Senior Special Adviser on Media, Busola Kukoyi, who highlighted the First Lady's active participation in initiatives related to women, children, education, social welfare, and economic empowerment. The ceremony underscored the cultural significance of traditional titles in southeastern Nigeria, recognizing individuals for their contributions to society and public service.

Photographs from the event showed Senator Tinubu dressed in traditional attire adorned with APC party symbols and Nigerian flag motifs, complete with a red headwrap and coral beads, holding a ceremonial fan inscribed with “OSO DI EME” and a white horsetail flywhisk.
