Digital Parks Africa Launches Data Centre in Lagos

Digital Parks Africa (DPA), associated with Master Power Technologies Group, is entering Nigeria's data centre market with the development of Nigeria Data Centre 1 (NDC1) in Lagos. Announced at ITW Africa in Kenya on September 8, this project marks an expansion of DPA's presence in Nigeria, where it has operated since 2001.

NDC1 is designed to cater to businesses, financial institutions, banks, cloud providers, and connectivity companies, providing resilient infrastructure close to their markets. While the company has not disclosed the investment value, planned capacity, or expected commissioning date, CEO Menno Parsons stated that this investment represents the next phase of DPA's operations in Nigeria.

The facility will be carrier-neutral, allowing flexibility for customers and connectivity providers. This expansion aligns with Nigeria's growing data centre market, driven by increased cloud adoption and demand for locally hosted infrastructure.

Lagos State aims for over 250MW of data centre capacity by 2030, responding to regulatory shifts that will require financial institutions to migrate workloads to local data centres.
