LCCI Urges Digitization and AI Training for Businesses

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), led by President Engin Ley Kupoluyi, has called on private sector organizations in Nigeria to digitize their operations and commit to training their workforce in artificial intelligence (AI) skills. This initiative aims to equip 70 young Nigerians aged 16 to 35, including 50 women, with relevant AI skills by 2029, with the goal of reducing unemployment by five percentage points.

Kupoluyi emphasized that the private sector must leverage programs to enhance its capabilities and urged companies to prepare for AI integration. He stated that organizations cannot rely solely on training programs but must also ensure that employees are ready to be hired as digitally savvy professionals.

The event highlighted the importance of innovation and resilience in business models to adapt to economic challenges. Mr.

Olatunbosun Alak from the Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology described AI as a transformative technology that is already impacting government and business operations.
