Diri's Support Vital for Bayelsa's Sports Competitiveness

Bibowei Lambert, the Director of Sports at the Bayelsa State Sports Council, emphasized the importance of Governor Douye Diri's support for the state's competitiveness in the sports sector. Speaking in Calabar, Cross River State, during the South-South zonal elimination of the maiden National Intermediate Games, Lambert noted that the state’s participation and qualification for national competitions were made possible by the Bayelsa State Government's commitment.

He commended Governor Diri for his intentional sponsorship and development of sports, highlighting that sustained investment is vital for talent discovery and athlete opportunities. Lambert remarked on the competitive nature of sports in the South-South region and how Bayelsa is beginning to excel due to the governor's focus on sports development.

He also praised the quality of competition among participating states and the discipline shown by athletes and officials, which contributes to grassroots sports development and the potential discovery of future national representatives.
