Disu Honors Egbetokun's Legacy as IGP at Abuja Ceremony

Disu addressed a ceremony organized to honor former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, reflecting on Egbetokun's impactful career within the Nigeria Police Force. Disu noted their professional relationship dating back to Egbetokun's tenure as Chief Security Officer in Lagos State under then-Governor Bola Tinubu.

Egbetokun, who became IGP on June 19, 2023, introduced reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and fostering public trust in the police. His leadership emphasized intelligence-driven policing, merit-based promotions, and the establishment of a Cybercrime Unit.

Egbetokun's tenure also saw the completion of police infrastructure projects and the expansion of police presence through new operational commands. Despite a mandatory retirement age of 60 set for September 4, 2024, Egbetokun's tenure was extended following amendments to the police act.

Disu commended Egbetokun's steady rise through various roles in the police force, highlighting his strategic foresight in navigating complex security challenges.
