Tinubu Appoints AIG Disu as Acting IGP After Egbetokun's Resignation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Disu as the acting Inspector General of Police, effective immediately. This appointment follows the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun, who served a four-year term scheduled to conclude in June 2027.

President Tinubu expressed profound appreciation for Egbetokun's distinguished service in the Nigeria Police Force and acknowledged his dedication and commitment to strengthening internal security during his tenure, which began in June 2023. The President emphasized that AIG Disu's operational experience and demonstrated leadership capacity would provide steady focus and direction to the Nigeria Police Force during this critical period.

Furthermore, President Tinubu plans to convene a meeting of the Nigeria Police Council shortly to formally consider AIG Disu's appointment as the substantive Inspector General of Police, which will then be transmitted to the Senate for confirmation. The administration remains committed to enhancing national security and ensuring the Nigeria Police Force is professional and fully equipped to discharge its constitutional responsibilities.
