UBA Denies False Divorce Claims Against Chairman Elumelu

United Bank for Africa (UBA) has issued a statement categorically denying false reports circulating on social media that its chairman, Toni Elumelu, is divorcing his wife. Alero Ladipo, the Group Head of Brand and Marketing Communications at UBA, described the claims as "deliberate falsehoods" intended to mislead the public and harm the bank's reputation.

The statement emphasized that the allegations are entirely fabricated and reckless, lacking any basis in reality. UBA has referred the matter to relevant law enforcement authorities, identifying three individuals—Kingslei Akunemeih, Chigozi Success Ihebom, and John Surpruchi Nwanoru—who are directly connected to the creation and dissemination of these malicious falsehoods.

The bank expects further arrests and prosecutions of those involved. UBA has also issued formal notices to individuals and entities involved in the public reposting of these claims, demanding an immediate cessation of such activities and removal of the offending content from public platforms.

Failure to comply will result in legal proceedings, including defamation claims and injunctive relief.
