Igbokwe Urges Opposition to Avoid 2027 Election Challenge

Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), publicly advised opposition parties, specifically the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), against attempting to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. He expressed this sentiment in a Facebook post on Tuesday, indicating that the presidential race is already decided in favor of the incumbent.

Igbokwe characterized any efforts by opposition politicians to contest against Tinubu as futile and a waste of time, energy, and financial resources. This statement comes amidst growing political discussions regarding the 2027 elections, with several prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, signaling their interest in running.

Concurrently, a faction of the PDP led by Ini Ememobong assured that the party would field candidates for the 2027 general elections, following a meeting in Abuja that included key party members and state governors.
