Anambra Governor Challenges "Sit-At-Home" Culture Among Civil Servants

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, raised concerns about the negative impact of the "Sit-At-Home" culture on civil servants' productivity. The government intends to introduce pro-rata salary payments starting from February 2026 to combat the persistent trend of civil servants skipping work on Mondays.

Dr. Law Mefor, during a press briefing in Awka, highlighted the need for civil servants to clock in every Monday to ensure accurate attendance records.

The Anambra State Executive Council discussed the issue and emphasized the economic costs of the Sit-At-Home practice, estimating losses running into trillions across the South-East region. Governor Soludo stressed the importance of ending the culture to improve the state's revenue generation and overall productivity.
