Doctors In Diaspora Write NASS, Tinubu Over Increased Deaths, Seeks Emergency Intervention, Funding

A group of Nigerian doctors based in diaspora has written to the National Assembly and President Bola Tinubu, urging them to allocate emergency funding to address the increasing number of sudden deaths in the country. The doctors highlighted a recent study showing a significant reduction in the lifespan of individuals in both the public and private sectors, including medical personnel.

Dr. Feyitayo Akorede, a member of the Coalition of Medical Practitioners in the diaspora, emphasized the need for proactive measures to combat chronic diseases like diabetes, stroke, and cardiovascular diseases.

The doctors pointed out cases of individuals collapsing and dying suddenly without warning, urging for better health awareness programs and stress management initiatives. The group also called for investigations into potential links between these sudden deaths and undiagnosed heart conditions, possibly exacerbated by recent vaccine mandates.

The doctors warned of a silent crisis brewing due to poor cardiovascular awareness and lack of routine medical screening, especially among young adults. The urgent intervention is needed to prevent further tragedies and safeguard.
