NMA Urges Increased Investment in Healthcare to Prevent Sector Collapse

Dr. Ifedayo Oreyemi, Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Ekiti State, has urged governments to invest more in healthcare and manpower to prevent the imminent collapse of the health sector.

Oreyemi emphasized the need for improved welfare for medical doctors and health workers, better health facilities, and halting the exodus of doctors from the country due to better opportunities abroad. He highlighted the challenges of poor remuneration and inadequate support for health workers, leading to a shortage of doctors and essential requirements in hospitals.

Oreyemi called for concrete actions from federal, state, and local governments to address these critical issues.
