APC Warned Against Handing Party Structures to Governors Ahead of Congresses

The former Deputy National Public Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nabena, cautioned the party's National Working Committee (NWC) against relinquishing control of party structures to state governors before the forthcoming congresses. Nabena emphasized the importance of grassroots members in securing electoral victories in the 2027 general elections, stressing that ordinary Nigerians' support, not political elites, is crucial.

He raised concerns about reports suggesting that the NWC, led by Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, was planning to transfer control of party structures to governors nationwide.

Nabena highlighted the need for transparency in the ward, local government, and state congresses to prevent the exclusion of aspirants and potential legal disputes across states and the federal capital territory. He called on President Bola Tinubu and other senior party leaders to intervene urgently to avert a looming crisis within the party.
