APC Governors Clash Over NWC Positions Ahead of Convention

A fresh crisis has erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as governors engage in a fierce dispute over National Working Committee (NWC) positions ahead of the party's convention scheduled to be held in Abuja this month. Multiple senior party sources revealed that the disagreement has escalated into a significant conflict, with at least two closed-door sessions of the APC Governors' Forum failing to yield a resolution.

The main contention revolves around three critical NWC positions: Deputy National Chairman (North), National Organizing Secretary, and National Public Secretary. Governors reportedly feel blindsided by the push from the North West for enhanced representation on the NWC, while the North Central, represented by current National Chairman Nentaw Goshw Yilwatda, insists on maintaining the status quo.

The APC has inaugurated its National Central Coordinating Committee for the 2026 national convention, with Aminu Bello Masari serving as chairman and Anyim Pius Anyim as vice chairman, amidst ongoing lobbying by governors for their respective regions.
