Lagos CP Fatai Tijani Calls for Community Crime-Fighting Efforts

On September 17, 2026, Fatai Tijani, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, called for active collaboration between residents and security agencies to combat crime and maintain peace. This appeal was made during a stakeholders’ security meeting organized by the Area D Police Command in Mushin.

Tijani stressed that effective policing relies on community participation, highlighting the need for partnerships among the police, traditional rulers, community leaders, and youths. He acknowledged the contributions of residents and security personnel to the relative peace in the area but noted persistent issues such as cultism and drug abuse that require collective action.

Tijani urged residents to report suspicious activities and warned against providing shelter to criminals. He expressed concern over the proliferation of illegal arms and called for vigilance as the country approaches the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmony despite political differences.
