Lagos Police Assures Security for 2027 Elections

Mr. Fatai Tijani, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command, assured residents on Thursday that there would be no cause for alarm before, during, and after the 2027 general elections. This assurance was given during an interview at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Area E Police Command in Festac, Lagos.

Tijani emphasized the paramount importance of ensuring the safety of residents, particularly during the electioneering period, which involves significant movement of people. He stated, “I can assure you there is no cause for alarm before, during and after the election.

We are fully prepared for it.” Tijani urged residents to collaborate with the police by providing timely information to prevent crime and address security threats. He expressed concern over youth involvement in crime and urged parents and community leaders to guide young people.

Additionally, he called for stakeholders to work closely with the police to ensure a peaceful political process and prevent political violence.
