Lawmaker Urges Nigerians to Strengthen Marriages Amid Hardship

Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State, addressed Nigerians during a special thanksgiving service in Abuja, marking the 50th birthday of his wife, Esther Modup Abejide, and their 20th wedding anniversary. He emphasized the importance of love, understanding, and faith in God as essential elements for building strong marriages, particularly in the face of current economic challenges.

Abejide urged couples not to allow financial pressures to weaken their relationships and highlighted that sustaining a successful marriage requires adherence to core values rooted in love and mutual respect. He referenced Ephesians chapter 5, which discusses the principles of love and submission within marriage, as a guiding framework for couples.

His remarks were made during a weekend event, where he cautioned against letting economic hardship tear families apart.
