Shettima Turns 60, Urges Charity Over Gifts

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who will celebrate his 60th birthday on Wednesday, has requested that Nigerians, friends, supporters, and associates refrain from spending money on gifts or celebrations for him. Instead, he urged them to redirect those resources to charities, causes, or individuals in need across Nigeria.

In a statement posted on his X account, Shettima expressed that reaching this milestone age has reinforced his belief that such occasions should be marked by generosity rather than material celebrations. He articulated that turning 60 prompts reflection on contributions to society rather than personal accumulation.

Shettima highlighted the significance of kindness, stating that even small acts can make a difference. He acknowledged that no one reaches significant milestones without the support of others and emphasized the responsibility to extend kindness to those who may never be able to repay it.
