Donyell Malen Leaves Aston Villa for AS Roma in Loan Deal with Purchase Option

Dutch forward Donyell Malen has completed a move from Aston Villa to AS Roma on a loan deal with a purchase option. Malen, who joined Villa from Borussia Dortmund in January 2025, scored 10 goals in 46 appearances but found it challenging to secure a regular starting spot.

Roma, currently fifth in Serie A, will pay a loan fee of around €1.7 million with a further €21.6 million due if the transfer becomes permanent. Malen's departure leaves Villa with limited options in attack, with manager Unai Emery monitoring the situation of Roma striker Tammy Abraham, who is currently on loan at Besiktas.
