Dora Akunyili's Children Honor Her Legacy on 12th Anniversary

On the 12th memorial anniversary of Professor Dora Akunyili, her children released a joint statement honoring her legacy. Akunyili, who served as the former Director-General of the Nigerian National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), was described by her children as a "lioness" who dedicated her life to serving Nigeria with passion, integrity, and commitment until her last breath.

They recalled her kindness and willingness to help everyone, regardless of their status, and noted her responsiveness to requests for assistance. Akunyili, who passed away on June 7, 2014, at the age of 59 after a two-year battle with uterine cancer, was remembered for her devout Catholic faith, her ability to bring joy to those around her, and her significant contributions to public health and the fight against counterfeit drugs in Nigeria.

Her children emphasized that her legacy should inspire Nigerians to emulate her values of integrity and service.
