Down Syndrome Foundation Hosts Inclusive Sports Event

The Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria organized its 19th annual inter-house sports competition on Thursday at Campo Memorial Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, as part of efforts to promote inclusivity for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This event celebrated the foundation's 25th anniversary and aimed to showcase the capabilities of young people living with Down syndrome.

Rose Mordi, the president and founder, emphasized the importance of social integration and the need to improve living conditions for children with Down syndrome, who have often been neglected. Chaota Hassan, a school administrator, noted the significance of the occasion, while Oluwabunmi Sosina, the PTA chairman, called on the government to provide better support for individuals with Down syndrome.

Corporate sponsors, including Linkage Assurance PLC and NSIA Insurance, expressed their commitment to supporting the foundation. First Bank Nigeria claimed the overall title, winning five gold medals, while Somolu's Green House and Linkage Assurance's Red House finished second and third, respectively.
