EFCC Lawyer Urges Court to Limit Judgment Delivery Time

In a dramatic court session at the FCT High Court in Maitama, Kemi Pinheiro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria representing the EFCC, urged Justice Maryann E. Anenih to limit the time spent on delivering judgments in the trial of former Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

The court had previously delivered a lengthy judgment in a civil matter, causing delays as parties awaited the proceedings. Pinheiro requested an additional 30 minutes to conclude cross-examination of the prosecution's witness, arguing that the Supreme Court's practice of reading only parts of judgments could save time and preserve the court's energy.

The court adjourned the matter to Wednesday and Thursday for further cross-examination, despite earlier discussions about the case's placement on the cause list.
