Driver Arrested After Fatal Lagos Crash Kills Woman

A driver was arrested after a fatal collision on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos that killed a 30-year-old woman. The crash occurred in the Ilaj area, involving two Toyota Sienna vehicles with registration numbers LSR 809 GV and LSR 695 HM.

Adebayo Taofiq, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), stated that the collision was caused by reckless driving and excessive speed. The crash resulted in the death of the woman, whose daughter survived the incident.

The driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by LASTMA officials and handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution. Olalekan Bakar Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, warned motorists against reckless driving and urged adherence to speed limits to preserve lives and maintain orderly traffic flow in Lagos State.

The incident underscores the severe consequences of reckless driving.
