Prevent Drug Abuse: Psychiatrist Urges Nigerian Youth to Resist Peer Pressure

Professor Jibril Abdulmalik, a Consultant Psychiatrist and Founder of Asido Foundation, emphasized the importance of preventing drug abuse during a lecture at Loyola College in Ibadan. He highlighted the increasing mental health challenges among young people, with one in four individuals at risk of developing a mental health disorder in Nigeria's population of 200 million.

Professor Abdulmalik urged students to resist peer pressure and build resilience to avoid falling into drug abuse, emphasizing the need for prevention over treatment. He stressed that recovery is possible with proper care and support.
