DSS Closes Case Against Nasir El-Rufai in Abuja Court

The Department of State Services (DSS) concluded its case against former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai in a Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday. The DSS informed the court that it had presented its evidence and would not call additional witnesses.
El-Rufai faces five amended charges alleging his involvement in unlawful interception of communications, which purportedly violated national security laws. These charges stem from comments made during a live interview on Arise News Television in February, where he suggested that security operations were planned to arrest Nuhu Ribadu.
The DSS argued that El-Rufai's claims violated Section 12(1) of the Cybercrime Prohibition and Prevention Act 2015. El-Rufai's counsel, Paul Erokoro, SAN, filed a no-case submission, asserting that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case.
The court will hear this submission on September 22. Additionally, Erokoro raised concerns regarding El-Rufai's bail conditions, which he described as excessively difficult to meet.
