DSS Files Criminal Charges Against Sowore Over Defamatory Posts

The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed criminal charges against politician and publisher Omoyele Sowore over alleged defamatory posts about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on social media. Sowore, the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, is accused of making false statements about Tinubu, intending to incite public disorder and damage the presidency's reputation.

The charges, based on the Cybercrimes Prohibition Prevention Act and the Criminal Code, allege that Sowore knowingly published defamatory material on his social media platforms. The arraignment is expected to take place soon at the Federal High Court in Abuja, with the DSS emphasizing the seriousness of the accusations against Sowore.
