DSS, NIA Tracking Politicians Financing Terrorism – CDS

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) revealed on Thursday that the Department of State Services (DSS) and National Intelligence Agency (NIA) are tracking politicians who finance terrorism in Nigeria. Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today program, the CDS highlighted the complexity of the investigation due to financiers operating across borders and relying on local collaborators.

He commended the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) for its role in exposing financial links to terrorism. The CDS, alongside the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other security agencies, are working diligently to clamp down on these financiers.

The CDS also warned that political figures may be complicit in fueling insecurity ahead of the 2027 elections. He stressed the urgent need for legal reforms to expedite the prosecution of terrorism cases.
