Terrorism Convict Receives 20-Year Sentence in Nigeria

Sani Danranmi was convicted on January 11, 2023, for two counts of terrorism-related offenses by a court in Lafia, Nasarawa State. He was found guilty of conspiracy and concealing information that aided the arrest of a fugitive suspect.

The charges indicated that Danranmi allegedly supplied arms and ammunition to kidnappers, receiving N580,000 for the purchase of 150 rounds of ammunition. The Department of State Services (DSS) described Danranmi as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks supporting terrorism and banditry.

The court sentenced him to 20 years in prison without the option of a fine, and he is to serve his term at Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja. The judgment aims to reinforce the commitment to combat terrorism and enhance national security.
