D’Tigress Retain 8th Place in FIBA World Rankings

D’Tigress, Nigeria's national women's basketball team, has maintained its 8th position in the latest FIBA World Rankings, as announced on March 20. This ranking follows their participation in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 qualifying tournament.

Throughout this period, D’Tigress engaged in various qualifying and international friendly matches, achieving a mix of results. They commenced their qualifying campaign with a dominant 70-37 victory over Colombia but faced a setback with a 77-60 defeat against South Korea.

They rebounded impressively with a 101-84 win against the Philippines and narrowly lost 93-86 to France. Their qualifying run concluded with an 81-73 defeat to Germany in a friendly match.

The USA remains the top-ranked team globally, while France and Australia follow in the second and third positions, respectively. Other African teams in the rankings include Mali at 18th, Senegal at 22nd, Mozambique at 34th, and Cameroon at 37th, highlighting D’Tigress's significant standing on the global stage.
