D’Tigress Retain 8th Place in FIBA Women’s Ranking

Nigeria's D’Tigress maintained their 8th place in the latest FIBA women's world ranking, which was released on March 20, 2026. As the reigning African champions, they are among the top 10 teams globally.

Their ranking comes shortly after the conclusion of the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup qualifiers, where they opened with a 70-37 victory against Colombia. However, they suffered a 77-60 loss to South Korea but bounced back with a 101-84 win against the Philippines.

They later faced defeats against France (93-86) and Germany (81-73). Despite these challenges, the USA remains ranked number one, with France moving to second place, ahead of Australia, China, and Belgium, who complete the top five.

Other African teams include Mali at 18th, Senegal at 22nd, Mozambique at 34th, Cameroon at 37th, and South Sudan, which made the biggest leap, moving up 13 places to 42nd. The FIBA ranking will be used to determine the seedings for the 2026 Women’s World Cup draw scheduled for April 21.
