D’Tigress Unveils Squad for 2026 FIBA Qualifiers

The Nigerian senior women's basketball team, known as D’Tigress, has announced its final 12-player squad for the upcoming 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifying tournament, which will take place from March 11 to March 17 in Lyon, France. The squad was confirmed by FIBA on Thursday and includes experienced players such as Ezinn Kalu, Sarah Ogok, Ami Okonkwo, and Promis Amukamara, alongside key players like Elizabeth Balogun and Nicol Enabosi.

D’Tigress, who are seven-time African champions, will compete in a group that includes Colombia, South Korea, the Philippines, France, and Germany, with the top three teams advancing to the next stage. The team has already secured automatic qualification for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin by winning the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket.

Head coach Rena Wakama previously named a larger provisional roster before trimming it down to the final 12. The team will also embark on a historic tour of the United States in April, facing the Minnesota Lynx in a preseason exhibition.
