D’Tigress Rewarded with OON, Cash and Flats

Nigeria's women's basketball team, D'Tigress, has been honored by the Federal Government for winning their fifth consecutive AfroBasket Women title. The team, along with their coaching crew led by Rena Wakama, received the national award, cash gifts, and property.

The announcement was made during a reception in Abuja, with President Bola Tinubu represented by First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in attendance. D'Tigress, who have remained unbeaten in Africa since 2015, secured their latest win against Mali in the final.

The team's dominant performance was highlighted by key players such as Amy Okonkwo and Ezinne Kalu. This recognition of D'Tigress follows a recent trend of national recognition for sporting excellence, with the Super Falcons also receiving honors for their achievements.
